It’s for the second time Professor ask me to write down Arabic script using kufic style of calligraphy. I wonder why he ask us to do this kind of assignment. For the majority master student it might be kind of silly thing when we refer to the real principle of postgraduate level: critical analysis.
It's one assignment of subject i take for this semester: Islamic Art and Architecture (so..however still have relation,right?) So, what suppose us to do is just start to make it, instead of bubbling around. For this time, I successfully googled kufic picture published online in the jungle of Internet. And this the result… Arabic script of “Bismillahirrahmanirrahim” with kufic Bana’i style.
Oh..My… with no experience at all and no one to teach, finally I am on it!! Just keep counting the square accurately and ratio of every letter and then shake your pencil to make a line with ruler. Just it! Unbelievable… This is the easiest calligraphy I’ve ever tried to write! Even compared to Naskh style (Everybody knows naskh style because it is the general and formal, legible, and clear style we use in textbook, al-quran, newspaper, and basic fonts in Microsoft office. )
Honestly speaking I’m not good in calligraphy. Actually, I don’t know what kind of style that I write it with for the time being …. Hehehe… If I could say… it’s rather “a worm style” than Naskh style. Alhamdulillah, Allah make it all running smoothly. There are many friend of mine, Indonesian first year student. She didn’t move up to next level at all. Our fellow was so curious to what’s wrong with her, because this fellow knows well that she had answered the questions correctly. Hmm, finally she knows the reason… Her writing is so bad that we cant read and understand what she wrote. To be graduated from al-Azhar university is not enough write the answer of exam questions correctly but it is a must that your calligraphy writing must be clear in the lecturer’s eye. It’s terrific that she spent three years to stay in the same level of study because of her writing! Which one you prefer, spend three hours to do writing exercise or Three years to sit on the same level of study?
Yeah… Sometime we ought to spend a little bit of time to do a silly thing, then to get a hidden marvelous thing behind it.

Win, win..kakak teringat waktu di sekolah. Sering cikgu tegur tulisan kakak yg mcm cakar ayam. haha. Sampai sekarang tak berubah. Aduh. Payah sih nak tulis cantik2.Klu khat..lg kakak fail.

yang penting tu jelas dan bisa dibaca... tak perlu sangat cantik. Yang cantik ni cukuplah tutur kata kite... :) macam bahasa syair arab akak tu ...boleh tahan tu... ;)hehehe...
